Not God’s Ability, But Your Believing

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

God is able!  There is no problem with His ability or His willingness to deliver to us His promises, which are yes and amen in Christ Jesus.  However, we do not receive from God based on His ability but based on our faith. God is able and can do so many awesome things, but that doesn't mean we automatically receive them. I believe God is able to translate people.  He did it with Philip, the Evangelist, but I don't know if he will translate me.  I have been on several long flights and wished that He would, but He didn't. It isn't based on what God can do; it is what I can believe according to His Word. I know that if the engine fell out of my car, God could send angels to put it back together, but I don't know if I could have faith for that. I could believe that God would give me the money to get it fixed or that I would have favor with someone that knew how to fix it. What I am saying is that God doesn't have an ability problem. It is not about what God can do! It is about what you and I can believe.

How do we position ourselves to receive God's ability? We must continue to hear the Word of God because that is how faith comes. Next, we must become a doer of the Word of God, which includes saying what God says about us. The speaking of the Word of God is one of the highest actions you can do while in faith. You have to continue to see yourself with what God has promised you by meditating on the Word of God. Can you see that walking in the promises of God is not dependent on God's ability? It is dependent on your faith in His ability.

I will leave you with this. The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 heard of Jesus. Faith came to her because she heard something. Then, she said something. She said, “If I could but touch His clothes, I will be made whole.” Then, she did something. She went and struggled through the crowd. Looks like she might have crawled because she ended up touching the hem of His robe. When she touched His clothes, power went out of Jesus, and she was made well. It wasn't a casual touch because everyone was touching Him, but Jesus said, "Who touched me?” The disciples told Him, “Everyone is touching you.” The difference was that some were trying to see what He was able to do for them, but this woman received, on purpose, and Jesus told her that her faith had made her whole. Remember, it isn't what God is able to do; it is what you can believe for! Let's believe for all the promises of God!
