Life On the Word

The foundation of our walk with the Lord is the Word of God. As much as a person reverences the Word of God in their life is the determination of how good their life will be. We must not only hear the Word of God, but do the Word of God. We are going to look at the basics of putting the Word of God first in our lives and living by the Word. To start, everyone needs to know that Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. The Word of God walked on the earth.

John 1:1 tells us that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Bible tells us in I John 5:7 that there was always three in Heaven, The Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. Jesus, the Word of God, has always been. The Son of God has always been the Word of God. In Revelations 19:13 even on Jesus’ clothes is written the Word of God. His clothes are dipped in blood and they proclaim He is the Living Word of God. Why is that important? Because when you know Jesus is the Word of God, it changes its impact on a life. The Word of God is alive! The Word of God has power! The Word of God has overcome!

Jesus has never failed and the Word of God cannot fail. People fail to believe and act on the Word of God, but the Word has never failed. It is impossible for the Word to ever fail. Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” You can see that God promises the truth of His Word and that it will not come back to Him empty. The Word is powerful and it has the ability to produce what it says. It is not an issue with God’s Word. The issue is on our side. Matthew 15:6 is one reason God’s Word will not work for some people. It tells us that the traditions of men have made the Word of God of no effect. In other words, traditions and attempts to rationalize the Word of God has caused the Word of God to be powerless in men’ lives.

We must never forget this is God speaking to us. This is Jesus representing the Father to us. This Word was penned by the Holy Ghost through men, but never mistake that it was penned by the Lord himself. That is why it cannot fail, because it is God speaking. I Thessalonians 2:13 tells us that it is not the word of men but the Word of God; and because it is the Word of God, it will effectually work in you. The Word believed will always prevail (Acts 19:20). If you will choose to build your life on His Word that can never fail, when the storms of life come, you will still be standing. Matthew 7:24-27 teaches us a valuable lesson that we must all live by. The Word of God works when it is heard and done. When I do His Word that never fails, I will always prevail. The storms come and go in life, but the Word of God remains the same. Trust Jesus! Trust the Word! Build your life on it and you will win every time.
