Don’t Quit

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

When should we give up? When should we accept defeat? When is it over?

The Lord has never taught me how to quit! Spiritually, I really don't know how to tell someone to give up. Even if it looks like defeat, even if it looks like failure, I know somehow, someway, God is going to turn it around if I don't quit. I can, however, tell you what to do when you feel like giving in. I can tell you what the Bible says about victory.

Romans 8:31 says, "What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" What are these "things?" They are the things the devil throws at us to try and defeat us. They are the things you are dealing with that try to make you quit. Romans 8:28 says this, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." I know that God can turn anything around and even when the devil sends a "thing" to destroy you, God can use that "thing" to propel you to another victory. How do you get to the victory? You must know that God is for you, so who (the devil) can be against you? If God is on your side, it doesn't matter what "thing" is opposing you and me.

You and I must clearly realize that victory is the plan of God. In Romans 8:32, we are told that God is not withholding our victory: "He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" He has freely given us all things. Nothing is being withheld from you. Victory is yours. No matter what "thing" the devil has thrown at you, do not quit, do not give up. Do not let the circumstances of life talk you out of your victory.

The Bible has more to say about these "things." Romans 8:37 says, "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us." Do you see it? It says that in all these "things." What things? The things that are trying to defeat you, and the things that are trying to make you quit, Jesus won the victory over, so you don’t have to quit because you are more than a conqueror. Jesus did all the work, and you get all the rewards.

You need to start saying something to those "things." What do I say? "God is for me, so it doesn't matter what is against me. I am more than a conqueror through Jesus. God is working this ‘thing’ for my good!” You also must understand this; you must be persuaded. Persuaded about what? Persuaded that nothing will separate you from your victory (Romans 8:38-39), and that you don't know how to quit!
