KNOW THE SEASON
John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
There are four seasons of weather in most places, spring, summer, fall, and winter; and in most places, you know what time of year it is by the weather. And you can look around at nature and tell when the season is about to change. When you know a season change is coming in the natural course of your life, you make preparations. In the Alaskan wilderness, they prepare for a long winter because their life depends on it. I know the Lord is preparing you for a season change, so let's look at those in the Word of God who were prepared for their season change.
John the Baptist was ready for his season changes. His parents surely prepared him as a child to be the forerunner to Jesus. They probably rehearsed all the supernatural things relating to his conception and birth. I know he was ready for his ministry because of how he appeared on the scene. When it was his season to minister, to literally prepare the people of Israel for Jesus' ministry, he was in the forefront and people were flocking to his meetings and baptisms. The word that came from his mouth was anointed. He had a word in due season for the people of Israel. Then, suddenly, one day, everything changed. He boldly declared that Jesus was the Lamb of God, who would take away sin. He told them as he baptized, that he baptized them unto repentance, but Jesus would baptize them with the Holy Ghost and fire. Following that encounter with Jesus, John the Baptist said, "He must increase, and I must decrease." Talk about knowing your season and being comfortable with your assignment. John the Baptist walked in seasons, and he knew which season he was in.
Noah prepared for a season change when he built the ark. The widow woman prepared for a season change when she gathered all the vessels for the oil. Another widow gave Elijah a cake first, which would cause a season change for her and in her son's life. The disciples went to the upper room to prepare for one of the greatest season changes of all.
What I am trying to tell you is the season is changing for you and for me. It is changing individually and corporately. Prepare! Ask God what, if anything, you need to do to prepare for this change of season.
