God’s Safe Place
Proverbs 18:10 (KJV) The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous run into it and is safe.
Your Heavenly Father has decided to protect you, to put you in a safe place. I like to call it “protective custody.” He has a place for us in Him that protects us from all that the devil would desire to do to us. How do we get in this safe place? How do I get into the place that God can protect me? By running into my strong tower (the Lord) where I am safe (Proverbs 18:10). Psalm 27:5 says, “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock.” Psalm 32:7 says, “Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.” You can clearly see that the Lord is a strong tower, a pavilion, and a hiding place for our protection and deliverance from the enemy. In Psalm 91, we see it as a secret place that causes us to abide under the shadow of God. What a great thing for us that God has decided to protect us. However, it is not enough to know that this secret place is available; we must have revelation of the doorway to this pavilion.
Psalms 91 gives us the answer of how to walk through the door to this hiding place. First, it must become our dwelling place, not a place we occasionally visit but a place we live. Another key to this door is trusting in God and having faith in His Word. Psalm 91:2 says, “…in Him will I trust.” When you put your trust in God and dwell with Him, He will protect you. Verse 4 says that we must take hold of His truth and let it become a shield and a buckler for us. The truth of God’s Word is the only thing that can truly protect you and put you in the secret place where God is able to hide you. Then, in Verse 14, the Word tells us something that is a huge key to being able to abide under the shadow of the Almighty. It says we are to set our love upon Him; and when we do, He is able to deliver us. Then, in the same verse, it gives us another vital key when it says, “We have known His name.” Today, you are not safe in life until you have a revelation of the name of Jesus! When we have all these things in our life, when we dwell there, trust Him, live by the truth, love Him, and know His name, then we are going to have access to the greatest safe room that has ever been given.
God has always proven that even in the middle of judgment, calamity, and whatever else may come, He can keep us safe. My evidence is found in Goshen. Do you remember Goshen? Do you remember the plagues of Egypt? Everything that was going on in that nation, all the bad, never happened in Goshen, where the children of Israel lived because they were in their safe place. There were no flies! Their cattle did not die! No hail in Goshen! The lights were still on in Goshen! The first born was not killed in Goshen! Why? These were God’s people; and if He did that for them, He will do it for you, His child. Your Heavenly Father is your refuge, your fortress, your strong tower, and a pavilion for you. Dwell in the secret place, and you will be safe from all the enemy’s plans and plots!
