Genesis 11:31 (NKJV) And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there.

Every person on planet earth who has ever lived or will live has a plan that God gave them when they were in their mother’s womb.  Many saved people, let alone those who are not saved, never find, and walk in the plan of God for their lives.  Even though that’s true, I want to talk to you as though you understand that God has prearranged a great plan for you, you have found your plan, and you are ready to walk in it.  You must also realize that the enemy would like to stop God’s plan for your life, so you and I must protect the plan God has given us.

What does the enemy use to stop the plan of God, or at least try to alter the plan that God has for our lives?  I have found some things in the Word that have helped me see the enemy’s strategy to get us to give up and get out of the perfect plan God has for our lives.  If I said that one of the revelations came from a man named Terah in the Bible, would you even know who he is?  Most people have never heard of him.  I would not have been able to tell you anything Terah did or did not do until these few scriptures in Genesis 11:26-32 helped me and have helped many others.  Terah is the father of Abram who later became Abraham, the father of our faith.  Terah had three sons, Abram, Nahor, and Haran.  So, you can understand what the enemy and life can do to get you out of the plan of God, I will tell you about Terah. He could have been the original one God called to go to the Promised Land or at a minimum was to help Abraham get there and be a part of God's plan. Terah started the journey to Canaan, but a terrible tragedy happened before he left his homeland. Terah's son Haran, the father of Lot, died. We don't know how he died, just that he died in their homeland. Then, as they were on the way to the Promised Land, they stopped in a place which was named Haran (son named after this city or it could have been renamed for the son). Unfortunately, Terah must have been in such grief that he could go no further. God's plan for Terah to go with his family to Canaan did not happen because the disappointment of his loss kept him from moving forward. The enemy tries to do that to all of us. God then spoke to Abram and told him to leave that place and carry on to the land of Canaan. He obeyed and the rest is history.

King David had to get up after a devastating loss.  He lost his first-born son, who he had with Bathsheba.  He had fasted and prayed, but his son did not live.  After his son died, his servants were confused because he got up and ate and began to live again.  He told the servants that the child was not going to come to him on the earth, but one day he would go to be with his child.  It is difficult for most people to move on, past a disappointment, but it must be done.  Don’t get stuck in the past; look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.  Don’t let anything keep you from doing the plan of God for your life.  We cannot control everything that comes our way, but we can control how we respond.  If you will get up every time you fall down, you will do the plan of God for your life.  If you will be like David, instead of Terah, you will accomplish the plan of God for your life.  Let’s determine never to quit, never to give up but to finish and protect the plan that God has given each one of us.
