Give Glory to God

Romans 4:20 (NKJV) He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.

We all have things we want to have show up in our lives. Abraham and Sarah wanted a child, but it was impossible. However, God showed up after Abraham had a heart to heart with Him about an heir. God said that they would have a son. After Abraham and Sarah got some things worked out, we see the “behind the scenes” of what Abraham did in order to receive Isaac. I want to remind you of one of those things found in the last part of Romans 4:20 which says, “Abraham was strong in faith giving glory to God.” The Amplified says that he grew strong and was empowered as he gave glory to God. It is very important for us to understand that if we really believed God heard us when we prayed, that we have the petitions we have desired of Him, and we received when we asked, then the next step would be to say, “Thank you.” Abraham and Sarah believed God and glorified Him and thanked Him.

As we glorify and thank Him, something happens. When we open our mouths and say what the Word says, God comes to inhabit those words. For instance, when I worship God and say from my mouth, "Thank You Lord for healing me; thank You Lord for taking the curse of sickness and disease; thank You Lord for taking stripes on Your back for me, so I can be healed," God comes and inhabits our lives in those words. The healing power of God comes for those words that just came out of your mouth. The Bible teaches us in I Thessalonians 5:16-18 and Ephesians 5:20 to give thanks in and for all things. What does that look like? In every situation, you would lift your voice and thank God for what His Word says concerning anything that you are going through in your life. You would have an attitude of gratitude in all things. Because you know that God heard you when you prayed and you know that you have your answer, it is just good manners for you to be grateful and thankful, just like Abraham. He was glorifying God before he ever held Isaac. He was grateful for Isaac before he ever saw him. In order for you to see your "Isaac," you have to do the same from your heart.
