The Promises

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of

God by us.

Does God say no? In Verses 18 and 19, we see what was going on and the answer to this question, “Is God faithful to His Word?” is clearly stated. Verse 18 says that God is faithful, and that the Word to you was not yes and no. Then, Verse 19 says that the Word preached to you was yes. The promises of God are yes to us. Our scripture today says, "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us." So, to His promises, God says “yes” and “so be it (Amen).” In other words, whatever God promises to do in His Word or Jesus obtained for us in redemption, the answer is yes! You don't have to ask the Lord, "Will You heal me?" Jesus settled that (I Peter 2:24). You don't have to ask the Lord, "Will You prosper me?" The answer is already yes (II Corinthians 8:9). You don't have to ask the Lord, "Do You want me to win in this situation?" He already answered that (Romans 8:37). God will not say no when He has already said yes. The devil has tried for 2,000 plus years to make people believe that it is not as simple as that, but it really is that simple.

If God says yes in His Word, He is saying yes to you. So, God doesn’t say no to healing, prosperity, victory, or other promises; but I believe what happens is, we don't “believe we received” the promises. That is very different than God saying no.

He will, as a good Father, say no to us in some things, such as life decisions and things pertaining to the direction of our lives. He will say no to things He knows will harm us or get us off track; but even at that, He doesn't keep us from exercising our wills. Paul had the Spirit of God tell him no. Acts16:7 says, "After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not." The Lord told them no because He had a different assignment for them. Can you see my point? In directions, in the plan for your life, in relationships, and in other areas that there are decisions by you to be made, God will sometimes say no. I know some people say that Jesus said no to the people in His own hometown because He didn't heal them all; but the truth is, according to Mark 6:5-6, it was the people who said no, not God. The scripture says He could not do any mighty works there because of the people's unbelief. It was the people, not God.

What I want you to get is that the old religious adage that God sometimes says no does not scripturally apply to the things that Jesus paid for in His act of redemption. And if you and I don't watch this, it will creep back into our thinking and our talking. God has said no to you concerning His promises that are for your life. He says yes to your salvation. He says yes to your healing. He says yes to your prosperity. He says yes to your protection. He says yes to you doing well. He always keeps His promises.
