Place Called “There”

1 Kings 17:4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

Jesus is your Shepherd. He wants to lead you somewhere. He wants to lead you to green pastures and still waters. In Psalm 23, we are told as much. He wants to lead you into these places in this life where you will not want for any good thing. I believe that right now the Lord is trying to lead the Body of Christ into a place of financial security. In this time we live in, the only thing we can truly rely on is God and His Word! We must understand that God has specific places for us to be and specific things for us to do. It reminds me of Elijah at the brook Cherith in 1 Kings 17; the Lord told Elijah to go to that specific brook because it was there the Lord had made provision for him. Verse 4 says as much, "And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there." Elijah couldn't pick his favorite brook. He couldn't say, "I never have liked that place. I am going somewhere else, Lord, so send my provision where I am." No, the Lord had commanded the ravens to come to the brook called Cherith; and that is where the water was, and that is where the ravens were flying in bread and meat morning and night. The provision was there. Then, the brook dried up, and the Lord told him to go to Zarephath. He said, “There a widow woman has been commanded to sustain you.” Can you see it? Both times, God commanded; and because God commanded, it was. In both cases, I am sure Elijah's mind was saying, "This is crazy; birds are going to feed me: a widow, not a rich widow, but a widow who is about to starve is going to sustain me?" But Elijah could have faith it would be because God said so; and faith begins where the will of God is known.  Where is “there” for you? James 4:13-17 teaches us that we, too, must know what God's will is concerning our provision. If you can find the “there” in your life, that is where God has commanded His blessings, His provisions for your life.  So, how do you find it? The Lord is your Shepherd, and He will lead you. The Bible says in John 10:4, "…and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice." You know the voice of your Good Shepherd. He will lead you to places of green pastures and still waters.

I know God wants to show you how and what to do concerning your financial provision. So many times, we tithe and give offerings where we don't see a return; yet, could the Lord have told you to do something? Does the return always come through someone handing you money, or could it come through a leading from the Good Shepherd? For example, Peter was fishing all night. He was a good fisherman; it seems he had quite the operation. He had partners, multiple ships, lots of nets and employees. After the resurrection of Jesus, Peter went fishing and many of the Apostles went with him. They fished all night and got nothing! Suddenly, Jesus appears and tells them something. Suddenly, the Good Shepherd comes and begins to lead them into green pastures. He says in John 21:6, ".... cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast, therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." They found their “there” place. It was on the right side of the ship. In the same way, by the Holy Spirit, by the Good Shepherd, God wants to tell you where “there” is for you.  It differs for each one of us but this I know, there is a “there” place for all the people of God.
