PROVISION
Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?
God does so many things for us as a Father. What a privilege to call Him Father. Like a good Father does, He wants to take care of our every need. This scripture blesses me so much because it clearly states that we are better than birds. God takes care of the birds, and He will take much better care of us than He does the animals. He has made provision for the birds. They don’t store up. They don’t have to because God saw to it that they would have a food source. I have multiple bird feeders in my back yard, and I enjoy watching all the different kinds of birds that come and eat. After being away for a while, one of the first things I do when I get home is fill my bird feeders because those birds are counting on me (not really; it just makes their lives easier). When I see this scripture, I am reminded that I like to provide for my birds, and how much more does God love to provide for His children. He is Jehovah-Jireh, God our provider. He sees ahead and makes provision for us. He doesn’t want us to do without as covenant children. The next time you see a bird, you can say, “God has taken care of you, and He will surely take care of me because I am His child.” The next few verses go on to tell us not to worry about things. There is no reason to worry because God has promised us that if we would seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, He would add, give to us, all the things we need, all the things the Gentiles seek. The key is to seek Him and not seek things. So, instead of worrying about it, pray and believe. Instead of worrying, praise and thank Him for what He has promised you and then receive it. Instead of talking worry and defeat, talk need met, that God came through, that God never fails because God is not a man that He should lie. So, no more worries. Why? Because you are better than a bird!
